You're telling me that a 140lb kid knocked a 250lb man to the ground with *one* punch, climbed on top of that man and slammed his head into the ground, and somehow the man not only got out his gun while being beaten up by this impossibly strong kid, but managed to shoot him such that the kid landed prone. Oh, and the altercation started when kid, responding to a comment that the man had no problem with him, said, "Well, you've got one now."

Cool story, bro. You should be writing for the WWE.

I know some 140-pound martial artists who could do that. The one factor they all have in common is at least 30 years of practice to develop that level of skill. If Mr. Martin had started practice at age five, he'd still be fifteen years short.

As you'd implied, not a plausible tale.

It's not just skill (although skill can accommodate for rather a lot) - people seem to forget (or maybe never realized) than men don't come into their full musculoskeletal growth until around 25 years old. Only one of the people involved had that full growth, and it wasn't the 140lb one.

Frankly, unless they've gotten much wackier since I last watched, the WWE's plotlines are far more believable.

Well, there was a period where some actor was holding the World Championship belt in the WCW as part of a movie promotional stunt. . . but yea, most of the plotlines at least make more damn sense.

But ni**#rs wacked out on cocaine are extra dangerous and require additional stopping power!!!!

...oh wait, that was the rationalization for police upgrading from a .22 to a .38 standard issue nearly 100 years ago.

Ironically, they were talking about how he was caught with pot. Which goes to show how many people today don't know jack about what pot does (hint: it is not a sympathetic nervous system agonist).

it's fucking ridiculous, eh?

A couple of things...

I'm 140lb and have no doubt that I could do that to quite a few 250lb men. I have tossed around reasonably in shape 200lb guys while horsing around on several occasions and I have no formal training (well, aside from about a month of kung fu a decade ago). Size is much less important than you seem to think.

Drawing the gun while being beat on is more doubtful than the actual shooting part. I can envision ways it could realistically happen, but most require a pause in the fight/beating.

The "Well, you've got one now" comment is the most plausible part of the whole story.

There is this image of Martin being this super sweet kid, but some of the information that has come out recently suggests that he isn't that pure and innocent. Here is a write up on a lot of that stuff.

All that said, I think Zimmerman is likely guilty of murder but none of us have anywhere near all the information. I think that it should probably go before a Grand Jury to figure out how things should go.

Oh god, tattoos? Seriously? Most of the stuff there sounds to me like normal high school crap, with the possible exception of the drug dealer bit, if indeed it's true.

What about hitting the bus driver? Is that normal high school behavior?

It's in the link I provided. Here are a couple of the bits from the article.

Here is his twitpic account. According to the article, his Twitter account was deleted shortly after his death.

Here is his cousin referring to the incident around the time Trayvon was suspended for reasons his parents won't disclose.

So the evidence is the phrase "yu ain't tell me yu swung on a bus driver" said by a third party on Twitter. Even Wikipedia wouldn't accept that as a source.

So that is less biased than his families statement that he is a good kid? Because that is all you and the media is going on. He has a documented history of suspensions. One for graffiti and the latest (which I just found) was for marijuana possession... something his parents have been documented as lying about... originally they claimed he was suspended for being somewhere he shouldn't.

Is it possible he was a good kid? Absolutely. But to believe blindly that he was or to condescend and say that kids just brag, belittles him as a person and ignores a lot of information.

I do want to make something clear. Trayvon did not deserve to die, even if he did attack Zimmerman. Also Zimmerman at a minimum started the situation and very likely was the initial aggressor which negates his right to use deadly force.

I just hate the media bias in this situation. The use of a four year old picture of Trayvon has been used to evoke sympathy for him rather than more recent ones which include his gold teeth and make him out as a less sympathetic character. Compare that to the picture of Zimmerman in the orange shirt that looks like a jail uniform.

Actually hitting a bus driver? Probably not. Bragging about hitting a bus driver? Totally. I see no evidence of this being anything other than the latter. Kids talk big.

Particularly black kids growing up in a world where someone can hit them with deadly force and get away with it because they're black - they need to look like they're too much trouble to be worth tangling with in the first place or they're toast. (I bet you money Zimmerman would never have approached Trayvon if he thought the kid could actually do the things he claimed the kid did.)
