brynndragon: black leather, purple motorcycle, and bright orange helmet - the height of fashion! (Ankai)
[livejournal.com profile] zandperl got lost on TV Tropes and decided to make a meme out of their list of longest running webcomics, and I thought that was awesome so I'm totally doing it :D.

Italics if you're current on the series
Bold if you've been reading from the start (or close to)
Strike if you read it once but gave up
Underline if you want to read it or want to catch up with it, but haven't
Comment for anything else

Wow, there's a lot of them! )

(via [livejournal.com profile] regyt)

I'm stealing the coolest meme ever from [livejournal.com profile] moominmolly's post:

I'm fantasizing today. Let's say you had NO IDEA what I do for work (which is probably true of some of you), and all you knew was that I wanted a change of career.

What real, achievable thing in the world should I be doing instead? Something that plays to my strengths and allows me to make something/somewhere more awesome just by showing up and being ME at it.

Your result for Awakening the Hero Within: Hero Archetype Test ...
You are the Creator

75% Innocent, 8% Orphan, 50% Warrior, 67% Caregiver, 67% Seeker, 79% Lover, 54% Destroyer, 88% Creator, 72% Magician, 38% Ruler, 67% Sage and 58% Fool!

Goal: Identity
Fear: Inauthenticity
Response to Dragon/Problem: Claim it as part of the self (Ed. note: hee!)
Task: self-creation, self-acceptance
Gift: Individuality, vocation
Addictions: Work, creativity

The Creator is the center of improvement, always striving to create and better her/his surroundings. The Soul is the center of the Creator's dance, and it seeks to find a deeper sense of self and wisdom even at the price of the Ego's functions of keeping us healthy and functioning. The Soul is the source of our freewill, and the healthy creator can tap into the potential, creating circumstances while others feel acted upon by her/his actions.

The Creator is driven to be authentic despite the costs. Creators are threatening to Warriors and Seekers, who are very concerned with how things are 'supposed' to be.

Shadow Creator:
The Shadow creator creates without any sense of responsibility for what s/he is making. The Shadow Creator often will deny his/her responsibility in events. Most often, the Creator is shunned by the community, and a Shadow Creator seeks to create to disturb the community from which s/he is shunned. If a creation comes out badly, a Shadow Creator will blame circumstances.

As I do every New Year, I will post the first line of each month from the previous year.

  • Jan: I'm sorry, I can't be so down on 2008 as everyone else seems to be.
  • Feb: Studying while punchy results in strange yet compelling concepts to help you remember things, such as "Beta blockers are loldrugs!"
  • March: Recession survival tip: Women will work for free!
  • April: Well, thus far I've seen two already-declared-false things, one pre-warned false thing, four things I managed to figure out on my own, and two things I'm honestly not sure about but wish I did know because I'd like to offer at least commiseration if not actual help if they are true but don't want to look like an idiot if they aren't, one of which I bit the bullet on anyway because it's just too potentially important not to.
  • May: One of my classmates told us about a Shamanic circle operating in Cambridge and I'm thinking about going to their next journey-working circle, which is this Friday.
  • June: Bleh, I really don't want to do these case write-ups - one of them is little information on a patient I'm never going to see again, the other is wicked complex on multiple levels.
  • July: My faithful laptop Vincent, which has served me well for over 4 years, is pretty much done.
  • August: Protip: When approaching a female in an MMORPG for mutual adventuring purposes, do not mispell "group" as "grope".
  • September: Yes indeed, there will be rocking out tonight with you somewhat exhausted hostess (first week of school, yay!). As usual, 7-11 @ my place.
  • October: If I survive to Tuesday, everything will be fine.
  • November: Today's rituals and socialness were a fantastic counterpoint to yesterday's getting things done and slacking off.
  • December: The moon is full, the days grow colder, and the nights grow longer.

Hey, this sounds potentially interesting and everyone else is jumping off the cliff. . .

Give me a suggestion for something to do in the coming year that is 2009. Large, small, serious, silly--but really mean that you think I ought to do it.

When you see this, post (in your own journal) your favorite quote from The Princess Bride. Preferably not "As you wish" or the Inigo Montoya ("prepare to die!") speech.

Buttercup: And to think, all that time it was your cup that was poisoned.
Man in Black: They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder.

The total absence from work amounted to 1120 working hours per year, with a total cost (private and social costs) of 96,410 euros. In CDTG, the occurrence of migraine attacks dropped from 8405 before treatment to 3927 after 6 months and 3084 after 1 year. The total absence from work amounted to 1404 working days per year, with a total cost of 137,694 euros. Acupuncture proved more effective than conventional drug therapy in the treatment of migraine without aura.

Sure, why not. Three things I've done that you haven't meme; if you want the rules, scroll down your friend's page, I'm sure you'll find them ;P.

1. Had an attempt to run away from home fail due to a bank error.
2. Got paid to have meals delivered to me.
2b. (will) Have my name in the acknowledgment section of a Tai Chi book.
3. Have the only two states I've ridden a motorcycle in be the state I live in and the adjacent state furthest away from where I live.

An old meme, but I'm nervous and memes soothe my soul.

Go to google, type "$name needs" and see what pops up.

Brynn needs to rethink whether sacrificing herself for her family is worth flirting with conspiracy to commit treason.
Brynn needs to morph in to a plastic snadwich[sic] bag.
Brynn needs to take responsibility for her actions and get a job.
Brynn needs to start thinking of others.
Brynn needs to come to terms with what her guilt demands and what her heart desires.
Brynn needs a retirement home.
Brynn needs to "Mommy up" or shut up.
Brynn needs money and try's[sic] out to become a Go-Go dancer.
Brynn needs tubes. (internet tubes?)
