Listening to the story of how obviously the Gulf of Mexico disaster plans of *all* the big oil companies are copied from the Valdez spill, all I can think is "My dizestere plan iz pastede on yay!"

Heh. "Why spend money on something that'll never happen, and, if it does, we can stick someone else with the bill for?"

I find it doubly disturbing that they are copying Valdez, where the response was mediocre at best.

They are copying Valdez because 1) no one had a plan before hand and 2) no one would have come up with a plan afterward except the Feds said "You must have a plan."

What Mobile did with Valdez was good enough to get them (mostly) off the hook so everyone else figured that was good enough for them too.
