You Dig?

A few days ago [livejournal.com profile] brontosproximo tagged me for the "songs I'm digging" meme[1]. I've been struggling with it, because I tend to not dig individual songs unless they pop into my ears. So I've been listening to my mp3 player and trying to note which songs actually grab my attention as I go about my work.

Moody Blues' _Tuesday Afternoon_ definitely wins - it *always* grabs my attention from beginning to end, and I've occasionally replayed it immediately after hearing it because it's just that good. This is followed by Marvin Gaye's _What's Going On_, which doesn't tend to get repeated but does get played on the internal jukebox. Next comes Three Dog Night's _Joy to the World_, which I need to sing with when it comes on the mp3 player (if only to myself). After that is the Katamari Damachii theme, probably due to its tendency to take over my brain.

That's it. It's not a full seven, but it'll do. If I had more Moody Blues I'd probably launch right into a Moody Blues kick, but I've only got two of their songs (the above and _Nights in White Satin_).

[1] It's not a meme. None of them are memes. The American Dream is a meme, these are just games we play wth our Livejournals or things that have their 15 minutes of fame on the internet. Unfortunately the word got co-opted before it was grown up enough to defend its original meaning, which is sadly mostly lost at this point. Not that having a word for this type of thing isn't a good thing, but a different word would've been preferable.
