Rental car recommendations?
Aug. 10th, 2006 02:51 pmA man in a darkened room sits in a substandard office chair hunched over a laptop that sits on the cheap desk in front of him. What little light there is come from behind him, so he is in silhouette. Camera pans behind him revealing the Travelocity website on the laptop screen, with a form for a flight filled out [isn't CG grand?]. Focus on the pointer, which slowly moves toward the "checkout" button as the background music builds in intensity. Suddenly there's a sound and the pointer stops (as well as the background music). The sound repeats. Camera change to viewing him from slightly below, with part of the desk between the camera and him. Focus changes to the cell phone on the desk. Sound repeats, with the cell phone lighting up just in case someone didn't get it already.
OK, that was overly dramatic, but my dad was checking flights for me to visit the weekend after next when I called. I just don't want to deal with what will likely still be extremely heightened security, so no flying for me if I can help it. After some dithering over other options I'll likely be renting a car to drive down (my parents are concerned about me making the trip in a car with no air-conditioning, regardless of its state of functionality). Anyone have recommendations for rental companies, particular since I'm kinda picky about my cars (I want good gas mileage, not an SUV (which is mostly covered by the first point ;P), and obviously air conditioning) and I don't want to pay through the nose for adding about 1k miles to whatever vehicle I get?
