These boots are made for walking
Sep. 20th, 2006 06:00 pmThe time has come to retire my beloved Harley boots and get a new pair. That time being when repairs would match how much it'd've cost to buy the things in the first place. So now I need to get me new boots, and since I sometimes have a hard time doing suchness due to the minimal overlap of the type of foot-covering I like and my foot size I'm asking for assistance. Here are my criteria for a boot:
- Style: I like boots that come about 1/4 to 1/2 way up my calf, and are military/old fashioned biker boots. I've found that in general men's boots are more likely to be aesthetically pleasing to me than women's boots even if they're supposedly of similar style (a friend and I theorize this is because women's footwear almost inevitably have pointed toes).
- Foot size: I'm a mens 5-6 (womens 7-8, euro 39, UK 5-6). Sadly many boots I like don't come smaller than a mens 7 :(.
- I want easy on and off while being adjustable (so not slip-on). For example, check out my Harley boots - if you click on the "extra image" button you'll see the zipper that's used for daily on and off, while the laces can be used for adjustment and then stuck under that large plate near the top (there's a strap-and-buckle arrangement that opens and closes space beneath the plate). Straps and buckles are also acceptable. I'd rather not use one of those lace-in zippers if possible.
- I want to be able to try on the boot before I buy it. If that's not possible, I'll want a place with good customer service and a nice return policy.
Anyone have any ideas?
