Summary: Blues not so bad, my double life, cycle and car considerations

Relatively low-key weekend, all things considered. Saw a lot of friends at Gaming Weekend, even though I wasn't there for most of it. Played DDR on the nicest pad I've ever had the pleasure of playing on; I decide to ask my folks for a PS2 for Xmas, plus my own copy of DDR (and Frequency and Amplitude, amongst other games). Managed to surprise the hell out of myself and someone else, was reminded that I am just not a boy scout. Being vaguely connected to a college environment feels a lot better than the cold-turkey withdrawal of the past couple of years. I feel a little more balanced and happy than I have recently. I'm tempted to blame my period having been out of whack since I recently moved in with a couple of chiks, but to be honest it was simply a mild down point like happens every once in a while. Right now I'm tired and exhausted and even a touch blue, but I don't think of it as a problem. Tonight I can relax, clean my room and do some laundry and play Wizardry 8 (thanks to mine friends who gave it to me, I can't wait to start playing it. . . maybe laundry and room will be put on hold ;P). The rest of my week is actually rather full - I've got a life, how strange :).

I feel like I lead a double life: during the week I'm an adult who works 9-5 and has a budget and does potluck dinners. On the weekends I hop in my car and head out west, a geek gathering with lovers and friends (and those inbetween) and doing everything from playing with cars to playing video games to simply being social. There is overlap; during the week I game and sometimes hook up with one of my lovers, plus my house is full of gamers and geeks any day of the week, and some weekends I don't go out west. But overall it's a very sharp divide between the workaday world and the collegesque lifestyle. Which is OK, to be honest - I'm working to make money more than anything else, to fuel my hobbies and my social interactions.

I've decided not to worry about getting a cycle until spring. That also makes me feel a lot better - some of the pressure has been taken off, and now I can put away $100/week and have enough for a decent first bike (maybe even a Rebel 450). I'll try to get helmet and pants sooner, just so I have all the gear and can concentrate on getting the bike itself. Plus I can concentrate on getting Sweet Grrl a full Massachusetts citizen. I think on Sunday I'll clean her inside and out, plus this week I'll call the used parts place to see if they have the bits I need. At some point I have to take off the fenders so I can try to remove some of the dents to allow the new parts to fit, plus take off the bumper and see if I can make the massive dent less denty. Maybe I'll do that the weekend after next.
