Some Politics

Two things:

The first is, I got my wish. From the sounds of it, Obama went with "brilliant and mentored by Larry Summers, but without the need to piss people off just to watch the fireworks" (or as Skaven noted, "like [livejournal.com profile] popetom", assuming he was also a brilliant economist). That sounds good to me - much as I like [livejournal.com profile] popetom I don't think I'd make him the closest thing to "in charge of the economy" that we've got ;P.

The second is, I've minorly argued over with a few folks over whether Obama is a Boomer or a GenXer. Apparently there's something in the middle - Generation Jones. After waiting patiently to be noticed at all, it's their turn to shine.

Given other circumstances I would agree with you.

But considering the finical mess we are currently in I'm betting I could do at least as well as the motherfuckers[1] who got us here.

Well, yes, you probably could do at least that well since what they did was a great deal of slacking off (based on the theory that government is useless anyway - note to self: do not put people who think poorly of the government in charge of the government, much as I appreciate their gadfly function). But I believe the government can actually help us get out of this mess if they do it right (with the caveat that there are very few right options and a lot of bad ones).

Also, you forgot "piss" and "motorcycle" (not for the same question ;P).

Hurm. We have a name now. I always felt that we were only Xers or Boomers when it was convenient to label us so.

I know the feeling - I'm on the cusp between X and Y and people generally generation-label me as is convenient to explain why I don't agree with them or think/act as expected (usually the Xers and Joneses do this, but that's probably because most of the people I interact with are from those groups).

cool. I didn't know I was part of a named generation.

And that the President-elect is also a part of it.
