Bad Idea #57

I'm sorely tempted to homebrew soda for game. Because alcohol isn't allowed on site, so all in-game alcoholic beverages are actually some form of soda (I'd have to check if the incredibly tiny quantity of alcohol that happens when you homebrew soda is acceptable, because geeks are rules-lawyers ;P). I could easily make some strong ginger beer and call it Dwarven ale, then watch people react when they realize it actually *is* that strong. . .

Or you could just try to find some Old Tyme Jamaican Ginger Beer, which is probably about as strong as anyone could hope to handle anyway. :)

And if you can't find that, grab some Goya Ginger Beer, which is within my tolerance but not exactly what I would call pleasant.

But that's not nearly as fun as homebrewing it!

Oh, gosh, i love that stuff. Where can you find it around here?

I haven't the foggiest clue; I live in San Francisco. :)

Spicy soda might also be interesting. This could be as simple as soaking chili peppers in Coke. Depending on how spicy it is, it could taste pretty good...

this takes me back to my old high school gaming sessions where we'd stay up all weekend playing various games and watching anime while drinking Coke and munching pork-flavored ramen noodles.

By Sunday morning we'd be completely loopy, over-caffienated, overtired, and inevitably have some flavor packets and Coke cans left over. Some genius would inevitably come up with the AWESOME idea of pouring a package of pork-flavored MSG into one or more half-empty cans. When we'd later go for the can because "hey! This one's still got some in it!" we'd get an unpleasant surprise.

Good times.

Avery's Soda makes all sorts of cool & tasty sodas. And they will do batches of custom-label sodas, or even custom mixes. No idea what the prices are.

My dad used to brew Rootbeer. He'd bottle it in old beer bottles.

You're bringing back fond memories.

Shadow's been looking for places to get a CO2 tank for the fishies and we ended up in Strange Brews in Marlborough, I started to think about brewing soda myself...
