Paypal should DIAF

Dear Paypal,
When your security measures prevent me from dealing with the fact that my Paypal account got hacked by asking me to do things I can not do because my account got hacked, you fucking lose. Forever.

I can't even close my account because in order to do so I need to provide the full credit card number (and let me tell you how reassuring *that* is) for the credit card I canceled because my account got hacked. Is there any alternative to Paypal?

Depends on what you use Paypal for. I recently learned of what seems to be an intriguing alternative for paying people online w/o a Paypal account or a regular debit or credit card: American Express gift cards. They cost ~$5 ea, and you can put up to $200 on them. Available at Shaw's in Porter Sq. You can pay cash and basically have an anonymous disposable credit card. Or so theory goes. Usable anywhere American Express is accepted.
