(I've only gotten one person who has said they're in so far, I'm hoping that's just because the turkey coma got to folks.)
If you are a Friend of Skaven (also known as Jeff), then chances are you might be wondering how you can give him something he'll like for Christmas. Well,
wsmith has found a lovely present: a laptop that he can use for work and for play. Since he has been working well into the night as of late, this would let him feel less trapped in his room (as vs. using his room to escape from the world), as well as making living room computing parties more feasible; but it isn't something he would think to get for himself. The only problem is it costs $400 (while being better than his current desktop, because
wsmith is a Craigslist god), which is rather beyond our budgets.
And that is where you lovely folks come in. Maybe you can only give a few bucks to such a thing, with the economy being as it is, or maybe you can give a little more. Maybe you're local and could sign a card to go with the gift when it come, or maybe you'd rather simply type something in the "note" field that we will write into the card (at the very least let us known how you spell your name). Because the only thing more awesome than not being trapped in one's room in order to make a living is knowing about all the wonderful people who make it possible. Including people who might not be on my friend's list - feel free to pass a link to this post along, it's public for a reason. (But please don't tell him; he doesn't read LJ, but I do need you to keep this secret ;)
How can you do this magnificent thing? Just head over to Paypal and send however much you can give to njatlas at gmail dot com. Place whatever message you want us to pass on to Skaven as well as the name you want to appear on the card in the Message box at the bottom of the Review Payment page. That's it! I can't promise video, but I will get and post pictures of how he reacts when he gets it :). If you have any questions, e-mail my LJ account ([my user name]@livejournal.com).
