I was watching B5 with londo with commentary by JMS. At one point he was talking about the military patches, specifically the starfury patch. So I went online, found an e-bay auction, and got one for less than $10 :).





When JMS mentioned that it says "ugly but well hung", I knew I had to get me one for my motorcycle jacket :). Those that get it will know that I'm a big dork just like them, those that don't will likely be amused (and probably confused by the starfury image). I'm pondering getting a Psi-Corp patch as well, which isn't strictly military but is scary as hell if you know what it stands for.

My current plan for the jacket is to get more patches (if anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them) and then come Arisia have some form of dragon imagery airbrushed on the back. Can't wait for April. . .

Every once in a while I consider getting a Psi-Corps tietack-sized pin and wearing it at work.

I'm pretty sure that even my coworkers who didn't get it would be a little wigged seeing me wear a psi at work, though.

I don't see why the ones who didn't get it would wig, since it's a symbol of your field and thus even appropriate. Those who did would likely be amused, I'd think. Than again I'm not in your work environment and thus am not aware of the boundaries and suchness.

Which brings me to a secondary reason for getting it for myself: I'm finally getting my degree (in psych). So having it would be kind of a symbol of completion as well as scary mental powers :).

It's more that I work at a really laid-back place. Seeing me with a pin with a psi on it might come off (to those who don't know the source) as though I'm trying too hard to prove my competency in the field. Yes, this is the scourge of working in the counseling field, dealing with everyone around you making assessments of you on some level. ;)

Perhaps if I wore it on a jacket.

Patches: any military history you have, NASA patches (available at http://www.thespacestore.com/patches1.html among other places), ...more geeky, all the future military history, like B5, Star Trek, or even Battlestar Galactica

Save a space for bike-pride when you get your first ride: a Honda patch for your Honda, or whatever.

As for "But Well Hung" -- I think it'd be amusing to see how many people think you're riding your boyfriend's bike. That'll end quick :-P

*laugh* or wearing his jacket. Cause you know, chiks don't make jokes about dick size. Although I suspect such a comment/question might be used as an attempt to get personal info out of me, i.e. if I say no it means I might be available. Which would be shooting themselves in the foot, but they won't know that until it's too late :).
