For them what might've been concerned, I got home just fine. Engine braking took the brunt of the work off my front brake and traffic was light enough that no one got horribly confused by my behavior (the pads are done. again. I'm not pleased).

Are the current pads OEM or are they aftermarket? How many miles since the last time? It might be time for a caliper and/or master cylinder rebuild - although if the brakes were persistently rubbing you would probably have noticed.
