I have officially fallen in love with these thin moleskines. They're awesome for studying (I copy the relevant notes into them and then carry them around to look at whenever I have a few minutes) and they're cheap (Borders has them for $11 per pack of 3) so I don't feel bad when I don't fill them up (because I never fill up my random scratchpads ;P). Even though they're cheap they feel good to hold and write in, and have thus far held up to my abuse. I'm guessing they'll make great journeywork/tarot notebooks as well.

The only downside is that the cover wears out at the spine. Easily rectified with some book tape, or glue some pretty cotton fabric over the cover.
Otherwise, yeah, I carried one until I switched to it's bigger brother.

That's less of an issue for study notes (since that's at most about three months that it'd need to last), but I'll keep that in mind for journaling. Thanks for the heads-up :).

It's also exacerbated by carrying it in a pocket that's close to your body: moisture from your body will affect the cover. Again, just find a pocket other than in your jeans, and you're golden. But as you mentioned, three months of note-taking is so way under the 8-9 months it took me to wear out mine.
