It's MLK Day, which makes this particularly poignant. At Arisia, the Musical Guest of Honor sung a song about a raccoon under her porch. Apparently what you heard from the song and its intro patter differ widely: PoC fen perspective vs. guilty white fen perspective. I think I'll take [livejournal.com profile] karnythia and her friends' PoV on this over a white fen who can only see invisible PoC rather than the ones right in front of her.

Not the channel that changed it name because geeks never engage in clever word-play, but the convention named after a fictional planet going on in my hometown this weekend. Since I'll be at Arisia there will be no one to host Rockin' Friday, so it's not happening this week. Next we will return to your regular Rockin' Friday goodness.

I have a room, I have a membership, so I will indeed be at Arisia :). I will be doing my usual flitting about (if you want my cell phone info let me know, Arisia is the only time of year I don't mind paying for text messages ;P), but on Sunday from 2-4PM I will actually be in one place - at the Pros Nest with Alex Feinman selling his new book Duplicate. He's also got a reading on Saturday from 12:30 - 1 PM in room 201, so you can try before you buy (and see me there as well ;).

If you want to make more specific plans for things like meals, let me know. I'm going to intent to go to more panels (like I do every year) but that's as iffy as it always is - if I find someone to chat with I'll be doing that instead (except for the things above). I'm also liable to volunteer (*drowns under waves of "it's about time!"* ;P) in which case I'll really be running around/out of sight. Truly, if you want to find me planning ahead or going to one of the above places is your best bet ;).
