Personal Oil Crisis

My bike ran out of gas on the way to work this morning, at the corner of Lake and Lexington (which was surprising because I should've gotten at least 8 more miles out of that tank, but apparently my gas mileage suffers even more than I thought when doing a lot of commuting). I ended up pulling it off to one side just outside the entrance to the Bishop's Garden community (where it was sufficiently out of the way that people wouldn't run into it), grateful for the guy in the bulldozer to my right who held up traffic in his lane so I could get over safely (I was in the middle lane, heading for a gas station ironically enough). He asked me if I needed help, but I told him I just needed to grab some gas up the street. Which I did, again grateful because they sold little containers that hold a gallon of gas and fit inside my bag (although I didn't put it in my bag full of gas because "fully vented" = "possibility of gas leaking all over my bag"). Only got a little gas on my hands, but the smell is still there. Overall I was only half an hour later to work than I'd intended, which still got me there in time.

So, yea. I'm still kinda annoyed that I ended up with yet another mini-adventure, even though it was a easily solved one. I just want a day where I don't have to think about anything planning-like (which means anything I'd schedule or dealing with mishaps, however minor). Hopefully I'll get such a day this weekend.

Did you remember to switch it off "reserve" afterwards, so you don't get a nasty shock next time?

Since my reserve is almost a gallon, and there's no way I can be assured I got every drop out of the gas can, I purposefully left it on reserve. I'm gonna hit a gas station after work, at which point I'll put it back on "on" :).

Nothing wrong with an advetnure. And hey.. at least it wasn't on the highway.
